Psychiatry As A Destructive Force

Psychiatry Lies

Psychiatrists lie about the amount of money they receive from pharmaceutical companies. A US senate committee, headed by Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa, has been investigating the lies told by prominent psychiatrists concerning how much money they receive from drug manufacturers. Sometimes the amount of money lied about runs into the millions of dollars.

A psychiatrist who works for the shock device makers will tell you there are 1 in 100,000 deaths from electroconvulsive therapy every year. He will also tell you that electroconvulsive therapy is a relatively safe procedure. He’s lying.

Psychiatry Devastates

People in the lowest socioeconomic categories are 2-3 times more likely than people in the higher socioeconomic groupings to be labeled mentally ill.

The unemployment rate among people labeled mentally ill has been estimated to be between 70-90%.

20-25% of the single adult homeless population has been estimated to be labeled seriously mentally ill.

As much as 15% of the labeled mentally ill population may be homeless once during the course of a years time.

Psychiatry Maims

Neuroleptic, often called antipsychotic, drugs can cause a severe movement disorder called Tardive Dyskinesia. A person’s likelihood of developing this neurological condition goes up with continued use. People on these drugs develop TD at a rate of 5-8% per year so that 15-20% of patients taking these drugs will have developed TD after 3 years time. Among the elderly, the rate of patients developing TD is even higher and approaches 20% a year.

The newer atypical neuroleptic drugs cause diabetes and pancreatitis.

These newer drugs also cause a metabolic syndrome, producing changes in the body which include elevated blood sugar levels, elevated cholesterol levels, elevated blood pressure, and obesity.

Obesity, diabetes, heart disease, all of the conditions associated with taking of these newer atypical neuroleptic drugs can cause other crippling physical health complications, and will cut short life spans.

More than 50% of the people who have undergone electroconvulsive shock therapy have reported negative effects as a consequence of this treatment.

Electroshock always causes memory loss. This memory loss is associated with the loss of brain tissue.

Psychiatry Kills

A 16 state study conducted by the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors, published in October 2006, revealed that people labeled mentally ill were dying on average 25 years younger than the rest of the population.

In a Massachusetts study from the 1990s the average age at death for a persons labeled mentally ill was found to be 52.4 years old while the average age for a non-labeled person was 72.4 years old.

1 in 200 people over the age of 60 die from shock treatment in a year’s time.
1 in 3000 – 4000 people under the age of 60 die from shock treatment every year.
